(copied from the publicity information I sent out earlier in the week)
We’ve got one last spring Teen Movie Night coming up before our summer schedule of events begins. On June 6th we’ll be showing the movie August Rush in which a teen musical prodigy uses his gift to find his birth parents. As usual, our doors will open at 6:30pm and the movie will start at 7:00pm. Expect refreshments and door prizes. No registration necessary, but this movie is limited to 6th-12th graders between the ages of 11 and 18.
Book a Trip to the library this summer for an exciting list of programs for teens that will take you around the world and back again. If you’ve finished sixth grade and are between the ages of 11 and 19, these programs are for you.
We’ll be kicking things off at our Teen Movie Night on June 27th featuring National Treasure: Book of Secrets. Follow Benjamin Franklin Gates and his team in their race to find out the truth about the missing eighteen pages from John Wilkes Booth’s journal. Besides our usual door prizes and refreshments, you’ll have a chance to sign up for our teen reading program.
Our second movie of the summer will be The Golden Compass on July 25th, when you’ll get a chance to travel north with Lyra as she seeks her best friend and other kidnapped children.
Our popular teen summer reading program returns. Come in and set your goal and see how many pages you can read this summer. We’ve added a few new twists and upped the minimum goal to 300 pages, to make it more challenging, and don’t forget that whatever you read for this also counts towards your hours in the children’s summer reading program if you want to do both. You have to read for school, why not earn prizes while you’re doing it? Sign up starts at the kickoff movie on June 27th and you have until August 9th to read and return your log to us. This will all climax with our Summer Reading Party in September.
You can also Book a Trip with Totally Teens, which is back with five exciting new programs on Tuesday afternoons from 4-5pm. Sign up starts two weeks before each program.
July 1 – Eyes of the World
July 8 – Color Your World
July 15 – The Natural World
July 22 – Around the World in 80 Questions (More or Less)
July 29 – It’s a Small World
Pick up a Totally Teens flier in June for more information about all of these programs.
